OK so long time no update! I now write from Jolly Old England! This update brought to you courtesy of the FREE WIFI at the Harley Hotel! YAY! (www.theharley.co.uk i think!)

Here's everything I had typed up from the trip so far...forgive me if some of it doesnt make sense, a lot of it was typed while I was under severe jet lag! Love you all

monday january 29th
after many many tears, i bid the dogs and kitty farewell, hugged my dad and hopped in the car with my mom to head to the airport. At about Sandy Lake Rd/G Bush I realize I left my iPod in the center console of my car, causing many nasty words to come out of my mouth. I am sooooo mad.

Currently it's about 1:20 PM and my flight was supposed to leave at 1. Apparently the weather in Chicago is so bad that our flight is now at about an hour and fifteen minute delay. This really worries me because my connecting flight to Manchester leaves Chicago at 5:30. Hm. Got to go, we're leaving the gate.

In Chicago now. Still no free internet which is stinky, sorry Stacy, I cant put the boxhead picture up yet I really wanted to, but I couldn't get the internet to work in Dallas either! I caved and had a cheeseburger from McDonalds for lunch...everything else was like $7! I'm too cheap, hehe. I'm pretty tired, so I hope I can sleep a little bit tonight on the plane, ordinarily I cant but maybe today is the day! Time to pack up for the boarding. Maybe I'll write more later Bye!

Tuesday January 30th
I now write you from jolly old England! Sheffield, to be exact. I'm sitting in my hotel room, still with no internet. I think it might be available downstairs but its just going to have to wait until tomorrow, I'm dead tired and it's not even 5 pm. I must last until 7....I mean, honestly. I can do it.

The flight was pretty uneventful. A lot of people weren't on there, so I had my window/aisle seat to myself. I tried to stretch out a little bit and sleep, but as soon as I fell asleep, they brought the breakfast cart by. Hrmph. Dinner was chicken with rice & vegetables, a little salad with oil & vinegar dressing, some water, and a roll with some butter. Breakfast was some strawberry yogurt (disgusting), a warm (albeit a little bit stale) croissant, milk, orange juice, and jam.

The customs lady treated me like dirt - it was ridiculous. She interrogated me about what subjects I'd be studying at Sheffield and what was my major, where do i go to school in the USA, do i plan to carry on with my major when I get back. Too many questions, and not enough niceness. I didnt know exactly what my major class here is, so I pulled out the paper with the title of it on it and showed it to her. Then she goes "You traveled all the way from America, not knowing what class you're taking." in this really demeaning, 'you stupid american' voice. After like 5 minutes of her treating me like crap, I finally just go "Look, I don't know what you want me to tell you, but I'm here for school and thats about all I know." and fiiiinally she stamped my passport and let me through. Arg. Stupid b*tch.

Anyways, I got my luggage, grabbed a cart, and rolled my way up to "The Station" where I missed the 7:52 train to Sheffield by 2 minutes, so I waited for the 8:52 to get to Sheffield. I cannot say enough nice words about the people at the train station. They were extremely helpful. When I asked how to use the phone (it may sound stupid, shut up) one of the station men said I could use his phone in their office, he even dialed the number for me My suitcases are both 50 lbs (ridiculous, I'll try to lose some stuff here) so I struggled with them, but someone helped me get my bags on and off the train at each stop (getting on in manchester, and getting off in sheffield) which was super nice, but mostly I managed to get my 2 big suitcases and small blue carry-on (and back pack!) and my wool coat to Sheffield all by myself Fortunately enough for me, Chris (Daniel's friend who studied abroad at OU for a year, and is currently attending the University of Sheffield) (like me!) ***I'd just like to make a note here - that I'm rereading what I typed up yesterday evening, and this is where it stops, then continues on to the next paragraph about Caffe Nero. LOL got to love jet lag*** Chris met me at the Sheffield train station and we walked around the city a little bit. It's VERY hilly, which stinks for me but I'll be in amazing shape by the end of my stay, and I dare say it might even help keep any weight off! (end edit!)

We went to this little place called Caffe Nero, and Chris had tea and I had a mocha, which woke me up a little bit.

We then walked to the Harley, deposited my suitcases despite the fact that my room wasnt ready, and then walked around the town some more. I met Chris's friend Tom and a bunch of other people. They seemed nice enough! I had a ham & cheese panini w/salsa on it for late lunch. It wasn't too bad, yay!

I used the internet in Chris's dorm room's computer lab earlier, emailed my Mom & Dad, and to ask for the stuff I forgot (iPod, sunglasses, something else I cant remember) I told them I'd call, but I'd have to walk back to Chris's dorm, which is a good ten minute walk, uphill, and I'm reeeeaaaaalllllllly tired, so I'm going to try and stay awake a little bit longer and then crash probably around 6. Not a big deal, they should have gotten my email, so its alright if I don't call. It's so lame that I want to go to bed, it's sooo early, hehe

Good Day celebritiessss
ps i love daniel

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 31ST
OK so it's Wednesday now, around 9:45 PM. I have NO idea what "good day celebrities" means...i was very tired when i wrote that, hehe. Yesterday, I hardly made it until 5:30 before I fell asleep. I kept waking up several times throughout the night, because my room is right next to the street on the first floor above the bar (so second technically but its called the first floor - things here are so weird!) and the cars driving by are very noisy, I guess the window just lets in a lot of noise. At first I thought maybe it wasnt shut all the way, but I tried moving it shut and it seems like its down all the way. Then when I woke up more, there was loud music coming from the bar downstairs. I don't know if it just seemed really loud because the road was quiet, or if it really was quite loud, because I just went downstairs a while ago to go to the Tesco and there was music but it wasnt very loud at all, sooo maybe I was just going crazy with jet lag.

I woke up around 8:30 and took a shower and went downstairs and had some toast and orange juice. I feel like I'm going crazy right now because I have no concept of what time it is, and I'm still pretty tired, it's a weird feeling, to say the least. I came back upstairs and watched some TV, some show called "This Morning" which was kind of lame but I had nothing else to do, lol. Then I took a nap, and Chris called to say we couldnt get dinner tonight because he was feeling sick and still had a lot of studying to do (he has one last exam tomorrow, I think) and he sounded awful so I said that was fine. I took another (i know....) nap and then read for a while when I woke up.

Around 8 I went downstairs and was told where there was a grocery store (I remembered seeing it yesterday once I got there...yesterday is pretty much all a blur) where I got some strawberry yogurt, a package of crackers with some cheese dip thingy, some water and diet coke for like 4 pounds, which I didn't think was a bad deal at all. Right now I'm sitting in the chair in my tiny room watching Bridget Jones - Edge of Reason which is cheesy but enjoyable. I'm sure I'll be up late due to all my napping today, which is a little annoying because I have to be up around 8 tomorrow for orientation at 10. The good thing about orientation is that the building its held in is actually about a 1 minute walk from my hotel. Yes, 1 (one)!

My hotel, The Harley, is really close to the student union, which is cool. Yesterday when I was walking around with Chris (we walked to his dorm and used the computer for a minute) I saw the place where I'm going to live. The outside, anyways. It looks OK, I just really hope I have internet, hehe, otherwise Chris is going to get me a card to his dorm building (if you pay 5 pounds they give you a copy...its just like for if you lose your card but they dont need to know!) and I can use the computer room if I want. We'll see. OK I pretty much have nothing else to say. Adios, amigos!

This is a survey. I would like for you to fill it out, please! I stole this from Jenn Stewart

1. Who are you?

2. Are we friends?

3. When and how did we meet?

4. Do you have a crush on me?

5. Would you kiss me?

6. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.

7. Describe me in one word.

8. What was your first impression?

9. Do you still think that way about me now?

10. What reminds you of me?

11. If you could give me anything what would it be?

12. How well do you know me?

13. When's the last time you saw me?

14. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?

15. Are you going to put this on your blog and see what I say about you?

PS. I bought my 3 day pass to Austin City Limits Music Festival (Sept 15-17, 2006) today. I know Travis is going, because I bought his pass for him, but would anyone else be interested in going? Last year Hanna came with me and we had a lot of fun, but I definitely would do some things different this year, like bringing water and stuff in . Hanna, you are definitely welcome to come again if you'd like! Please let me know if you're (you're being anyone) interested in going, because I need someone to split a hotel room and gas with and also someone else to come along besides Travis! (Not that there's anything wrong with Travis, things are always just more fun in groups!)

Liineup is available HERE
Festival info available HERE

BTW - 3 day passes are $115 + the service charge and shipping, a grand total of $135, but if you like a lot of the bands playing (like I do) i found that it is definitely a worthwhile experience, it's very fun! Also, the hotel I'm looking at is an Extended Stay which means lower rates (woohoo!) and it'd be about $75-100 a night at the one I'm looking at, which is very reasonable considering some of the hotels downtown cost around $200-300 a night. The upside to those hotels is that theyre within walking distance of the shuttles to Zilker Park, but it only costs $5 to park at the garage across the street from the shuttle, and the hotel is only 5 miles away from the garage. So...I'm willing to pay that $5 haha!
